That is what makes relive such a strong contender. ReLive/VCN needs to use h.265/HVEC to come close to this quality/bitrate ratio, but few streaming services support h.265. Turing and later versions of NVENC h.264 can match or beat CPU x264's h.264 encode quality vs. Live streaming is another matter as 's quite viable with ShadowPlay. Even if I can get them to work on modern hardware/drivers, capture overhead is usually much higher than with ReLive, which is not the case with the NVENC plug-ins. All the VCE/VCN/AMF plugins I've tried for the better free video capture/streaming apps have been of pretty poor quality and/or are rarely updated. ![]() This is less an issue for NVIDIA cards as there is good 3rd party support.I don't use ShadowPlay on any of my NVIDIA parts because something like OBS using NVENC is so much better.ĪMD doesn't really have these alternatives. It may also have an even lower performance impact (not that it's significant either way) I cannot tell from performance, even watching framerate/time graphs while playing, that ReLive is capturing, but I can tell that even good NVENC implementations are being used on NVIDIA parts, especially without modifying the the hidden "CUDA P2 state" option as anything that uses CUDA (including NVENC) on most consumer NVIDIA parts causes the VRAM to be downclocked.Īnyway, the main problem with both ReLive and Shadowplay themselves is relative the lack of configuration options. ReLive has always been pretty solid and generally better integrated/less annoying than ShadowPlay.
